++¿Como puede ser que la SOCIEDAD PROTECTORA DE ANIMALES Y MEDIO AMBIENTE SAFOR (SPAMA) en Gandia/Terrateig (Valencia), que hace todo lo que esta en sus manos para mejorar la triste vida de los perros y gatos abandonados y maltratados, sera cerrado en breve y todos los animales alli hubicados seran sacrificados???
Como puede ser que un pais tan lindo, moderno y turistico no tiene respeto por los animales?
Pocas semanas antes de las vacaciones de verano miles de animales domesticos seran abandonados por sus dueños, todas las protectoras de España necesitan el esfuerzo de todos nosotros para evitar un gran desastre de animales hambrientos en las calles. De los politicos tambien esperamos consideracion por los animales, porque sin ellos el mundo no sera nada!
Me parece que empresas que «recogen» animales abandonados hacen una fortuna con estas pobres criaturas. Y no veo razon ninguna porque todos los perros y gatos abandonados tienen que ser sacrificados, y menos aun de forma brutal y cruel (como ocurria en Mataro). Ya solo falta que tengamos empresas que «elminen» la gente vieja, criminal, enferma y disminuidas fisicamente de la calle!
¨Porque los due_os de los animales no pueden ser responsabilizados con grandes multas? Al fin y al cabo son ellos y nada mas que ellos los responsables de este problema, sin olvidarnos de la responsabilidad de las autoridades por no legislar leyes mas contundentes respecto a la cria indiscriminada de animales de compa_ia, asi como la identificacion de los mismos, para asi poder determinar quien es el culpable del abandono, que al fin y al cabo es un problema para el animal y para el resto de la sociedad. Una sociedad con educacion en este tema no tendria este tipo de problema.
Ante esta grave situacion, les ruego que intercedan ante el cierre de la SOCIEDAD PROTECTORA DE ANIMALES Y MEDIO AMBIENTE SAFOR (SPAMA) en Gandia, asi como el de otras sociedades protectoras que durante tanto tiempo han puesto todo su esfuerzo y dedicacion desinteresada en favor de los animales.

Background
The ‘Sociedad Protectora de Animals y medio Ambiente Safor’ (S.P.A.M.A.)has been developing its task of collecting and caring for abandoned animals since 1981, its accommodation being at first in the old Municipal Gandia Dog pound, as it as yet had no premises of its own.
In January 1995 following great financial effort, the society aquired a piece of land, destined for construction at that time of a shelter for abandoned animals ,in the district of Terrateig. Valencia.
On the 1st June 1998, the Asssociation of Town councils of the Safor region contracted the company GIRSA to collect abandoned animals and subsequently destroy them if unclaimed. This offer was considered preferable. The offer of the Protectora, a charity dedicated to saving the lives of animals was rejected. However, the Society presented an appeal to the Superior Justice Tribunal, and so the Gandia Townhall permitted the Society to continue to use the old dog pound for a short time until the appeal was heard.
On 28th December 1998, following the appeal and court case, the contract with Girsa was rescinded and once again the custody of the animals passed again to the Society. As a result of this, and having no installations available , the Society was compelled to initiate the legal preceedings to construct the shelter.
The Society contacted the Honorable Mayoress of Terrateig and was given verbal permission to start building. This is common practice in small localities while the license to build is being processed.
In February 1999, the Building Licence was applied for. This is needed as the first step towards the Declaration of Community Interest, as the land on which the shelter was being constructed was common land without building permission. In spite of this situation, on starting the construction we were confident that the Mayoress would remember her verbal promise.
Since then the Society has met one obstacle after another from the Town hall in the construction of the shelter.. Firstly the refusal without administative justification of the necessary permission, later legal action designed to make the use of the completed buildings impossible. We find this inadmissable and inexplicable, considering the purpose for which we are there.
And so it remains that in April 2000 we continue without the Declaration of Community Interest as a charity and must be subordinate to other interests which do not have to follow the same administrative requirements. Something we fail to understand.
PRESENT SITUATION
On 21st. March the Mayoress of Terrateig, Da. Consuelo Fenollar ordered the ceasing of activies of the shelter and its immediate closure. The Society appealed against the sentence which has been suspended while waiting cautiously for permission to be granted, which obviously continues to be unauthorised by the Townhall.
We find ourselves in an vicious circle, in which we are manacled.For this reason we ask for your support: your signatures in favour of conceding us the concession of community interest for the shelter are imperative, in order to ratify the petition which we have made unsuccessfully many times, and also to demand that the Administration give their reasons for denying the concession should it be rejected once again.
