Nos gustaría invitaros a participar en el proyecto ôNi Hombres, Ni Mujeres, Sino Todo Lo Contrarioö. Es un seminario/encuentro dirigido a movimientos sociales y de base de todo el mundo que tendrá lugar en Chiapas el próximo mes de mayo. Este proyecto no sólo proporcionará información sobre cuestiones de género a l@s participantes, también es un intento de crear una nueva red internacional de organizaciones y personas que están intentando introducir la perspectiva de género en sus movimientos. Esta red puede convertirse en una estupenda herramienta para recopilar información e intercambiar experiencias, así como un importante y emancipador instrumento para unir esfuerzos y conseguir una lucha más efectiva.
Sabemos que ya existen muchas redes y encuentros de mujeres. Esta nueva red pretende superar la actual segmentación de luchas y obtener un trabajo integrado con perspectiva de género. De ahí que este seminario esté destinado no sólo a movimientos y organizaciones que ya están trabajando con una perspectiva de g’nero; de hecho, surge de la necesidad de introducir seriamente la cuesti¢n de g’nero en muchos movimientos que actualmente no la est n considerando dentro de su lucha. La igualdad de raza o de clase f cilmente puede suponer la igual opresi¢n de todas las mujeres, del mismo modo que el feminismo no es una lucha real si no considera otras formas de opresi¢n y desigualdad existentes. Ninguna de estas luchas merece la pena mientras se excluyan o ignoren mutuamente.
Este seminario no es s¢lo para mujeres, porque es una cr¡tica feminista a la construcci¢n social de g’nero, que es frustrante, homogeneizadora, discriminatoria e injusta tanto para las mujeres como para los hombres. As¡, este proyecto tambi’n incluye el imprescindible trabajo en masculinidad.
Este seminario es feminista pero no liberal, ni biologista ni esencialista. Intenta recoger las diversas luchas sociales teniendo en cuenta tambi’n las diferentes realidades y contextos sociales de cada una. De este modo, es una manera de unir el trabajo que hemos estado realizando aislad@s hasta ahora y de acabar con los falsos estereotipos que nos separan y estigmatizan. Mujeres ind¡genas, negras, musulmanas, occidentales, . podr¡amos entonces intercambiar inquietudes y puntos de vista y encontrar una v¡a para trabajar juntas, respet ndonos y aprendiendo las unas de las otras. We would like to invite you to participate in the project » Neither Men Nor Women, Just The Opposite». It is a seminar/meeting on gender oriented towards social and grassroots movements all over the world. This project not only will provide the participants with information about gender issues; it is also aimed to create a new international network of movements, organizations and people that try to introduce the gender perspective inside their movements. The network could be a great tool for collecting information and exchanging experiences in the future, as well as an empowering instrument for a more effective struggle.
We know that there are already many women’s networks and meetings. This new network is an attempt to overcome the existing segmentation of struggles and to obtain an integrated work with a gender perspective. Therefore, this seminar is not only for movements and organizations that are already working with a gender perspective; in fact it emerges from the need to introduce seriously the gender issue in many movements that do not consider it within their struggle. The equality of class or race could easily suppose the equal oppression of all the women, at the same time feminism is not a real struggle if it does not consider other kinds of oppression and inequality. None of these are worth when they are excluding each other.
This seminar is not only for women, because it is a feminist criticism to the socially pliable gender construction, which is frustrating, homogenizing, discriminatory and unjust for both women and men. Therefore it also includes the crucial work in masculinity.
This seminar is feminist but not liberal, biologist or essentialist. It tries to collect different social struggles considering also the different realities and social contexts of everyone. In that sense, it is a way of uniting the work we have been doing isolated until now, at the same time finishing the false stereotypes which separate and stigmatize us. Indigenous women, Black women, Muslim women, Western women, . could then exchange their concerns and points of view and find a way to work together, learning from and respecting each other.
